Best apps for influencers – these are the best apps to download in 2020 for influencers. Get apps like Canva, Kinemaster, Lightroom to make your Social Media game strong.

Now that you are spending so much time at home and with your phone, apps are your favorite friends, right? As influencers and bloggers you are stuck to your phones constantly. A lot of work depends on the efficiency of the apps. So I thought I will share some of my favorite apps. These are some of the Best apps for Influencers. I use some of them regularly. These are probably the best apps to download in 2020 for Influencers.

Firstly, this is not a sponsored post. I really like them so I am recommending them.

How do I shoot my photos?

I like my Nikon D5300 but I happen to shoot only food photos on them that goes in TwinklingtinaCooks. For my Instagram I am mostly using iPhone7 or Vivo V15 Pro. I have a Sony point and shoot that I hardly use (I don’t like that camera; I don’t know why I bought it).

5 Best apps for Influencers

5 best apps for Influencers to download in 2020

#1 Kinemaster

Platform: iOS/Android
What can You do: Video Editing
Cost: Monthly & Yearly Subscription

If you are into Videos on Instagram or YouTube and you like using your phone for shooting and editing – get this app called Kinemaster. It is super easy to use. You can edit a full YouTube video on your phone and add effects and text and everything. I have a paid version of it so I can render the video without watermark. It costs 1299/- INR for a year which I think is a pretty decent amount.

You can export in 4K, use layers, blend videos and do almost anything. I kind of do all Instagram Videos on this.

#2 SnapSeed

Platform: iOS/Android

What can You do: Photo Editing

Cost: Free

Well, none of the images that go on Instagram are original/ raw images. Everything is edited and it’s okay. Snapseed is an app by Google and is free of cost. You can correct the lighting, add portrait effects, retouch photos, and much more. It is super easy to watermark your photos. This is one of the best apps for influencers. You can use this easily even if you don’t have much of photo editing skills.

Pro Tip: You should watermark your photos – cleverly so that your name/ handle is incorporated in the photo and not in any corner. You don’t want people to copy your photo.

Why I like it so much – You can save your favorite effects and then apply it to new images in one click!

#3 Canva

Platform: iOS/Android

What can You do: Graphic Designing

You must be living in a cave if you have not heard about Canva. It is super easy to create amazing graphics for your social media, blog and even YouTube on Canva. I mostly edit my photos for blog on Photoshop (because I am a Graphic Designer) but sometimes I just like how convenient Canva is. It has something for almost everything you need.  Make a Free account with your email id or sign up with Facebook and you are good to go. The Free version is more than you need. There are many graphic designing apps available these days. Canva is one of the

If you don’t know your workaround on Lightroom – don’t worry. Adobe Lightroom for Mobile and Tablets is a free app that can be used to create and add amazing filters. You can capture, edit, catalog and do much more. You actually don’t need to upgrade to use premium features if you are using for social media only.

Baarish 2 Review – A Relatable Romance drama on ZEE5

by tinabasu May 29, 2020
written by tinabasu

Baarish 2 Review: The ZEE5 series starring Sharman Joshi and Asha Negi is the second installment of the already popular Baarish S1. Twists and turns to heart-warming moments Baarish 2 has enough reasons to make you feel the romance.

Romance is the evergreen genre which everyone enjoys. Rains and romance go together like hand in glove. When you see the sky pour you, invariably feel romantic. Baarish 2 on ZEE5 returns with Sharman Joshi and Asha Negi in the lead with new nuances of relationships, complicated love. After the success of old school monsoon mushy romance in Baarish S1, the second season returns with the ups and downs with relationships.

Baarish 2 on ZEE5 turns a new leaf in Anuj (Sharman Joshi) and Gauravi’s (Asha Negi) life. Gauravi spends months in lockup to protect her husband before she is bailed out. Without the comfort of their lavish lifestyle, the couple starts rebuilding their lives and their relationship. Amidst the twists and turns of life, they start from scratch and build their lives together only to fall apart.

Amidst the hard work of building a lifestyle, they start growing apart – to an extent that they are in the courtroom for a divorce. Will their love and relationship withstand the test of time? Will they be able to grow closer and stay under the monsoon umbrella? You need to watch this relatable romance drama for it.

baarish 2 on ZEE5

Sharman Joshi made his Digital debut with the first season of Baarish S1 and it was such a fresh start for him. We have hardly seen him in romantic roles. He was well-received in season 1 and got a lot of appreciation from the audience. In Baarish 2 he shoulders the show almost single-handedly with superb acting. You see the flairs of man who is in love with his wife to becoming a mellow man when hard times strike. You see him as the angry suspicious husband- in a nutshell – Sharman Joshi is the star of Baarish 2.

Asha Negi, on the other hand, is a perfect fit Gauravi, giving amazing support to Sharman’s great acting. The season 1 of Baarish, however, was high on their on-screen chemistry which falls short in the second installment.

As the counselor, Jitendra makes his OTT debut with Baarish 2, and it a pleasure to watch as Jitu Bhai.

Jitendra baarish 2 ZEE5

Source: ZEE5.com

The typical use of popular Bollywood rain songs in the series is one of the USP. I really liked the music. The title track is beautiful. This show is produced by ALT Balaji and Ekta Kapoor always makes sure of good music.

In a time when daily soaps are not getting aired properly, digital content and OTT media is the answer to fill the void. This middle-class-girl-meets-rich-businessman romance drama offers life’s roller costar ride and is very relatable.

I liked the unusual complicated love story of Anuj and Gauravi. The show has some flaws – the subplots are weak and sometimes are not even required, yet it’s a nice show you can watch during this time. Perfect for binge-watching over the weekend. That’s the beauty of the digital content!!

Start with Baarish Season 1 on ZEE5 to get the whole perspective. Baarish 2 will not disappoint you.

Don’t be a Toxic Parent – Do’s and Don’ts of non-Toxic parenting

by tinabasu April 29, 2020
written by tinabasu

Toxic parents are abusive, emotionally destructive, and result in poor unstable kids. These tips will help you with non-toxic parenting.

Toxic parents are not rare. Yes, all across the world you find toxic parents and that’s just sad. Most of these toxic parents themselves have has abusive childhood or a toxic parent and this they have just carried forward in their own lives – often without realizing it.

If you have had a toxic parent – stop and asses – is it right to put your child through that?

Keep your parenting journey healthy and safe and definitely non-toxic. Non- toxic parenting is beneficial both for the kid and you.

You don’t want your child to grow up hating you. It will end up in them getting estranged from you later in life – the moment they turn adults or worse when they turn teens!

No parent is perfect, we are all humans, and we all make mistakes. But being abusive to your child or being a toxic parent is not an option.

Here are few tips with which one can realize if they are toxic parents and then correct themselves.

Don’t be a Toxic Parent – Do’s and Don’ts of non-Toxic parenting

dont be a toxic parent

Don’t label your child to hide your parenting flaws

Admit your own mistakes. If you have parenting flaws it’s your mistake not your child’s. Don’t label your child as ‘monster’, ‘spoilt’, ‘unruly’ if you don’t know how to manage kids.

It is even worse if you keep blaming your spouse if your kids are acting up. “It’s because of you he is like this” – if you are saying this constantly you are being a toxic parent. Stop immediately.

There’s a difference between criticizing and correcting

It is always good to correct your child’s behaviour if that’s inappropriate but criticizing the child for everything is going to do no good. Be a guide to your child not a critic. No one is born with everything learnt. Kids need to see to learn. What you show them is what you learn.

SO don’t say words like “look at your brother, he’s never behaved like this, learn something from him”. You will only end up igniting sense of jealousy, insecurity and rivalry.

Do not Abuse Physically

Hitting a child, abusing physically is not an answer to anything. In many cultures spanking, hitting is normal and a regular practice – it is ultimately not good for your child’s emotional health.

Make changes in your own temperament. Learn to control your impulse. You can always discipline a child without hitting or being a toxic parent!

Healthy conflict resolution

Children from dysfunctional families grow up to have their own dysfunctional families. Model healthy conflict resolution with your spouse in front of children to set examples.

So don’t be a toxic parent to your child. Non-toxic parenting is healthy and safe. It will raise confident healthy kids.

How to be an Amazing Single mom

How to be an Amazing Single mom

Are you a single mom? Great. It is not the end of the road it is that light at the end of the tunnel. Being a single mom is a better situation than being in an unhappy life.

Your child will probably thank you later. It is better to bring up a child as a single parent than in an unhappy household where all they see and hear is negative. It is not good for a child’s emotional health.

Being a single mom can be difficult at times since you have to manage literally everything on your own. But you know what – you will be happy! You have time to learn about yourself, you can take your own decisions, spend money on yourself and you don’t have to impress anyone!

But it could be a daunting task being a single mom and managing everything on your own. Don’t give in to the overwork and stress. Yes, you are the only adult, yes you have to maintain the career, run a house, be a parent – but don’t get overwhelmed.

Here are 5 tips on being an amazing single mom.

how to be an amazing single mom

Maintain a routine

Humans like routine – kids love them. You know when you are supposed to do what. When your life follows a routine, it becomes easy to follow.

Make a routine for yourself and your kids. Have breakfast together. It could be simple breakfast. Encourage your kids to do their own routine of getting ready for school. Little older kids can help in making breakfast.

Simplify your life and declutter

This in fact is true for every mom – simplify your life. Minimalism in life is great. When you have fewer things to do, you can slow down and relax.

Declutter your home and kitchen. We all have too many unnecessary things in our house. Admit it, you have it. Declutter your house – that’s the first step to decluttering your life.

Learn to budget and Save

Financial planning is a big part of any single mom’s life. You are depending only on your salary. Make a budget for monthly needs, put money in savings. Make an emergency fund for yourself and your kids. You could start a side hustle to grow your income.

But most importantly – pay your debts. Live debt free if you can.

Self-care

If you don’t look after yourself no one can. Your kid’s life depends on you since you are the only parent. Eat well, sleep well, maintain a good healthy life. Don’t let depression get in your and succumb to things like alcohol and smoking. You are only going to spend more on these and healthcare.

Don’t let anyone judge you

We live in a society where everyone talks behind your back – whether you are single or not. Don’t pay attention to people judging you. You are the sole responsible person of your life and your kid’s life – you don’t need to know what people are talking about you. And if they are – they probably are not friends.

So don’t get overwhelmed by the single mom life. It is absolutely okay to be a single mom – and it is even better to strive to be the amazing single mom! Isn’t it?

How to Raise Emotionally Resilient Kids – 3 Simple Parenting Shifts That Actually Work

by tinabasu April 29, 2020
written by tinabasu

Raising resilient kids is a big responsibility for any parent. These tips will help you bring up resilient kids.

As parents, most of us spend so much time trying to protect our children from disappointment, failure, sadness, and stress. But somewhere along the way, we also realise that resilience is not built by avoiding difficult moments altogether. It grows slowly through everyday experiences, emotional support, and learning how to cope when things don’t go perfectly.

In today’s fast-moving world, raising emotionally resilient kids feels more important than ever. Resiliency is a big personality attribute you want your kids to develop. Resilience is an attribute that your child will need to face all the challenges of life.

But kids don’t automatically know how to become resilient, especially when they face challenging situations, as burdens; we want to make everything easy for them. However, that doesn’t prepare them for the challenges of life.

Sometimes it is okay to help your child, but you have to let them do their work and let them make their own decisions. For example, when your child is taking too long to eat, don’t jump to feed him. Let him learn to eat on his own – even if it feels hard.

Raising resilient kids is important for their own good. You won’t be there forever for your child. Making themselves self-sufficient and resilient will make sure they will be able to face and overcome the challenges of life.

As a mom, I’ve realized that resilience is not something we can teach through one lecture or parenting rule. It is built gently over time through connection, emotional safety, boundaries, routines, and the way we respond to our children on hard days.

Here are some practical and emotionally healthy ways to help raise resilient kids in a stressful world.

What Does It Mean to Raise a Resilient Child?

Resilient children are not fearless children. They still cry, feel upset, get frustrated, and struggle sometimes. The difference is that they slowly learn how to bounce back, process emotions in healthy ways, and trust themselves through difficult moments.

Resilience simply means developing the ability to recover, adapt, and move forward after difficult experiences.

Emotionally resilient kids are often better able to:

  • manage stress
  • express feelings openly
  • cope with failure
  • solve small problems independently
  • adapt to changes
  • recover after setbacks
  • build confidence gradually

Resilience is not about “toughening kids up.” It is about helping them feel emotionally supported enough to handle life’s challenges with confidence over time.

Why Emotional Resilience Matters More Than Ever

Children today are growing up in a very different emotional environment than many of us experienced as kids. My son is 10 now, his childhood is way different from what I had or what his older cousins have had.

There is:

  • more screen time (it is so inevitable!)
  • more academic competition
  • more overstimulation
  • less boredom
  • more social comparison
  • more emotional pressure

Have you noticed the pressure on kids these days? Everyone wants their child to be perfect – prefect in studies, perfect in sports, perfect in art, music, dance, drama and the list goes on! With more competition, the expectations are also above the ceiling!

Many children also struggle with:

  • perfectionism
  • fear of failure
  • anxiety
  • emotional overwhelm
  • frustration tolerance

This is why emotional resilience matters so much now. Children who learn healthy coping skills early often find it easier to navigate friendships, school stress, disappointments, and emotional challenges later in life.

I have been very particular about certain things in my parenting journey. Not comparing Bluey to anyone – not in my head and never in any conversation near him. Something I have always refrained from is – helicopter parenting! Jumping into a kid’s fight in a park, telling him/her, ‘no, don’t play with him/her,’ is a big red flag for me. When Bluey’s class teacher says at a PTM, he is the one to sort out fights between other kids – I know I have passed!

Signs of an Emotionally Resilient Child

If you spot these qualities in a child, you know you have met a resilient kid.

Every child is different, but emotionally resilient children often:

  • recover more easily after disappointment
  • communicate feelings openly
  • try again after mistakes
  • handle small frustrations better
  • adapt more easily to changes
  • show problem-solving skills
  • ask for help when needed
  • feel emotionally safe expressing emotions

Resilience does not mean children stay calm all the time. Even resilient kids have emotional meltdowns and difficult days.

Practical Ways to Raise Emotionally Resilient Kids

I have been on a path to raising an emotionally resilient child. Ups and downs are parts of life and teaching children to deal with different emotions and process these emotions will eventually help them in life. Let me share with you a few practical ways to raise emotionally resilient kids.

Teach Children to Name Their Feelings

One of the most helpful emotional skills children can learn is simply identifying their emotions.

Instead of dismissing feelings with:

  • “Don’t cry”
  • “You’re fine”
  • “It’s not a big deal”

Try helping children put emotions into words.

For example:

  • “You seem disappointed.”
  • “That must have felt frustrating.”
  • “Are you feeling nervous about tomorrow?”

When children understand their emotions, they slowly learn how to regulate them better.

Let Kids Solve Small Problems

As parents, it’s natural to want to fix everything quickly. But resilience grows when children get opportunities to work through age-appropriate challenges independently.

This could mean:

  • resolving a small disagreement
  • figuring out homework problems
  • organizing school supplies
  • managing forgotten items occasionally

Children build confidence when they realize:
“I can handle difficult situations.”

raising resilient kids

Let them make mistakes

As a parent, don’t feel embarrassed if your child makes a mistake. Let him learn from that mistake. Raising resilient kids also means you let them explore and learn from their mistakes.

If you look back, you probably have learned more from your own mistakes than from a book. But, of course, ensure their safety.

Many children today feel intense pressure to perform perfectly.

But emotionally strong kids understand that mistakes are a normal part of learning.

Talk openly about:

  • your own mistakes
  • lessons learned from failure
  • trying again after setbacks

Children need to know that failure is not something shameful.

Help Kids develop coping skills

What the schools don’t teach kids is coping skills with failure. A child goes through a plethora of emotions – good bad ugly feelings. It is always good to let your child share his emotions. Teach kids to develop coping skills.

Talk to them, calm them down. Teach them deep breathing. Let them know you are there. This will help them later on in their lives.

Let them get bored

What we don’t realize while putting kids in a score of extracurricular activities is we are not giving them free time! Free time, free play is very important to let the creativity flow. Sometimes it is necessary to be without toys, books, gadgets and just be free even if you get bored.

When they get bored and have nothing to do – imagination comes into play. Nurture that.

Model Calm Behaviour

Children absorb emotional responses from adults constantly.

If we react to stress with panic, shouting, or emotional overwhelm all the time, children often mirror those responses.

This doesn’t mean parents must stay perfectly calm every moment. That’s unrealistic.

But practicing calmer responses, emotional repair, and healthy coping skills teaches children valuable emotional regulation.

This is also why becoming a calmer parent can positively influence a child’s emotional resilience over time.

Encourage Independence

Simple independence builds confidence.

Let children:

  • make small choices
  • complete simple responsibilities
  • help with routines
  • participate in problem-solving

Confidence grows through participation, not overprotection.

Praise Effort Instead of Perfection

Instead of focusing only on results, praise:

  • effort
  • persistence
  • creativity
  • problem-solving
  • emotional courage

For example:

  • “I’m proud of how hard you worked.”
  • “You kept trying even when it felt difficult.”

This helps children develop a growth mindset instead of fear of failure.

Create Emotional Safety at Home

Children become emotionally stronger when home feels emotionally safe.

This means:

  • listening without constant judgment
  • allowing emotions
  • offering reassurance
  • validating difficult feelings
  • maintaining healthy boundaries

Children who feel emotionally secure often become more confident handling stress outside the home too.

What Parents Should Avoid

WIth changing times, parenting styles have become very different. Have you noticed, how over protective parents are today? I am also protective about my son, but trying to help in every step – will harm him more than protecting!

Let me share an incident. Bluey

Sometimes resilience is unintentionally weakened when children are:

  • overprotected from every discomfort
  • constantly rescued from consequences
  • pressured to be perfect
  • emotionally dismissed
  • compared to others frequently

Children do not need perfect parents. They need emotionally present and supportive ones.

Raising resilient kids is an important duty for a parent. Don’t overlook that.

How to fight Infections in Indian kids – A mom’s story

by tinabasu April 23, 2020
written by tinabasu

There are many common infections in Indian kids that worry a mom. Flu, common cold, viral and bacterial infections – all pose a threat.

Are you that mom who gets worried when your child is suffering from cough and cold? Welcome to the club, mamma. A mom’s second name is “worried mom”. If your eyebrow goes up every time your child is feeling dull or fatigued or has sneezed some five times – welcome to motherhood.

I also fall in this category, in spite of being quite a patient and cool-headed mommy. My son didn’t have a health issue until about a year after his birth. He teethed late and had his first bout of diarrhoea around that time – which sent me in a panic mode. That was the beginning of the journey called “Is my child gonna be okay”!

Let me share the kinds of infections in Indian kids that are found almost everywhere across India and are kind of inevitable. [i]

Kinds of Infections in Indian Kids

How to fight Infections in Indian kids - A mom’s story

Common Cold & Cough

Common cold and cough, is well, common as the name suggests. Kids can pick up these cold and cough almost from everywhere.

Influenza

If you are an anti-vaxxer you need to act now. There is no other way you can treat influenza other than with a proper vaccine.

Ear infections

Ear infections are difficult to spot but they mostly start with a cold. The good thing is that it is not a contagious infection.

Stomach flu or diarrhoea

One of the most common infections in Indian kids is a stomach bug that leads to diarrhoea. This happens because of not maintaining proper hand hygiene.

UTI – Urinary tract Infection

This is also a very common infection of the urinary tract. A child can pick up easily from any public washroom (schools/ malls).

How to fight Infections in Indian Kids?

How to fight Infections in Indian kids - A mom’s story

Cold, Cough, Flu:

I found my son was falling sick more often once he started mingling with other kids and joined playgroup. Though the school took steps towards their hygiene and sanitation, the bouts of colds, stuffy and runny nose became like an endless cycle.

A small child in playgroup has a much weaker immunity than elders. So let him get better. He needs proper sleep, he needs immunity-boosting foods and he needs to be away from more sources of infection.

Urinary Tract Infection:

When my son started toilet training and I was not sending him to his Nursery class in diapers, I had to again face a set-back. This time it came in the form of a UTI. According to the doctor, boys have fewer chances of Urinary Tract Infection but one can catch from any public toilet. How much can you make a child of three years understand! Cranberry juice helps in the case of UTIs.

Diarrhoea:

While it’s important that the child maintains hand hygiene, as a mum also please take care about the kind of places your child is eating out from. Not all places are hygienic.

What can you do as a parent in fighting infection in kids?

It is necessary that you keep your child away from sources of infection you also need to work towards building their immunity. How can you do that? Include good fruits and vegetables in their diet, boost their sleep time, encourage them to take up sports or outdoor play (not in the current times, though). Encourage them to wash hands with soap before eating or drinking. Include immunity-boosting supplements.

I have been giving PediaSure to my son for some time now because he was a picky eater at one time and I had to rely on something for boosting his immunity. PediaSure has 37 vital nutrients in it and is great if your child is a picky eater and doesn’t get all the nutrients from his food alone.

Current times are difficult. You cannot afford your child to even catch a cold or fall sick. How can we fight infections and diseases if we don’t have a strong immune system? . . . I am making more and more conscious decisions to include more organic food and immunity-boosting food in my child’s diet. RIght now he’s in the stage where his growth depends on the kinds of food he is taking. Supplementing his regular food with nutrient-rich alternatives also works. . . I have been giving #Pediasure to my son for quite a while now because he likes “the chocolate milk”. It has 37 vital nutrients that help in growth and also help to strengthen the kid’s immune system. However, given the current times don’t forget to remind your child to wash and sanitize hands properly every few hours to stay safe. . . . Tell me, people, what are you doing to build your child’s immunity? Let me know if you liked our handwash video. As a mom, you will want to protect your child from everything. But not everything is in your hand. Boost up your child’s immunity so that his body can fight all kinds of infections.
