by tinabasu September 21, 2020
written by tinabasu

Vasu Sugar Scrub Review – It is an age revitalizing sugar scrub for your skincare enriched with kumkumadi tailam and Vitamin E.

Hello peeps, how are you doing? Let’s talk sugar today. Tell me how many of you are scared of sugar? The mention of sugar in your food makes us go crazy, right? But don’t throw away all your sugar from the kitchen because they can be a really good ingredient for a sugar scrub!

This entire lockdown situation I have been trying a lot of skincare products and made a good skincare regime for myself. My skin is always begging for some TLC. While I am really crazy about makeup, I like to heal my skin too underneath it. I have been using the Vasu Sugar Scrub for some time now and love the texture of it. So I thought a detailed product review is definitely required on the blog.

What is a Sugar Scrub?

Sugar scrubs are exfoliating scrubs that have sugar as the key ingredient along with other enhancers like carrier oils, essential oils, lemon etc. They can be used for both face and body. I love DIY sugar scrubs for the body because they are so easy.

Why I picked up Vasu Sugar Scrub?

There are a plethora of scrubs available in the market today. I like scrubs that not only exfoliate but also moisturize the skin. Vasu Sugar Scrub is a gentle scrub that you can use on your face to exfoliate and pull out dirt particles from your face. It is readily available with an interesting mix of ingredients and is super convenient.

Why is it the best Age Revitalizing Sugar Scrub?

The Vasu Sugar Scrub has

  • Natural Sugar & Black Sand – for a proper exfoliation of dead skin and dirt
  • Kumkumadi Tailam –is a traditional ayurvedic secret known for youthful glow in the skin
  • Vitamin E – rich in antioxidants, Vitamin E keeps the skin soft and supple

The Vasu Sugar scrub is the best Age Revitalizing sugar scrub because of its interesting ingredients. It not just exfoliates but hydrates and keeps the skin soft supple and provides the youthful glow.

Kumkumadi tailam is an essential blend of oils and herbs which are traditionally used in skincare. It is well-known for its antiseptic, anti-bacterial properties. It not only improves the skin complexion but also has anti-fungal properties.

How to use this scrub?

  • Wet your skin
  • Take a dollop of the sugar scrub and massage on for 3-4 minutes

If you have blackhead or whitehead around your nose or chin, scrub those areas well with the scrub.

You can use this scrub twice a week for best results.

My experience and a few things I really liked about Vasu Age Revitalizing Sugar Scrub

The scrub is pretty gentle on the skin and as you massage it, it melts into the skin. The scrub particles are not very harsh so can be easily used on sensitive skin. I loved the texture of the scrub.

My skin felt smooth after the usage. I quite liked the fragrance too its mild and pleasant. I did moisturize my skin after washing off the scrub because I have a habit of keeping my skin moisturized.

  • The exfoliation is mild and effective, it’s not too coarse
  • It is Dermatologically tested
  • Exfoliates and provides intense moisturization
  • No parabens, No mineral oil, No formaldehyde, and dyes

ZEE5 Bebaakee Review – Bebaakee Web Series starring Kushal Tandon, Shivjyoti Rajput – a story of love and friendship and hate

by tinabasu September 3, 2020
written by tinabasu

ZEE5 Bebaakee Review – The latest web series to binge-watch is Bebaakee web series on ZEE5. Kushal Tandon, Shivjyoti Rajput stars in this story of love, friendship, and hatred.

Web series are my current favorites because I seem to have a lot of time in hand now to binge watch and consume some good content. I have watched a lot of web series lately and the one I want to share today is Bebaakee web series on ZEE5.

Now that I enjoyed this series, I thought of sharing my review on this web series so you know what’s in it for you.

ZEE5 Bebaakee Review – Bebaakee Web Series kushal tandon

ZEE5 Bebaakee Review – Bebaakee Web Series Story Line

The story of Bebaakee web series revolves around three childhood friends Sufiyaan Abdullah (Kushal Tandon, Imtiyaz (Karan) and Kainaat (Shivjyoti). Sufi and Kainaat are two strong and stubborn personalities who are often cross their paths because of their love for journalism.

Sufi finds it difficult to believe in the concept of love because of his father’s philandering ways and watching his mother suffer. He lives in a shell and doesn’t believe in love. But when he meets Kainaat he is instantly attracted to her. But instead of impressing her or wooing her he remains his hard self, making Kainaat resent him.

However, Imtiyaz is a happy go lucky guy, who is full of life making it easy for Kainaat to fall for him. But this bond between Imtiyaaz and Kainaat doesn’t go down well with Sufiyan.

What will Sufi do in this situation? Will he confess his love for Kainaat? What will Imtiyaz do when he gets to know that his best friend loves the same girl? Will there be a sacrifice? Who will sacrifice? Will Sufi and Kainaat come together? Will Sufi’s Bebaak ishq get him closer to the love of his life? Or will they fall apart yet again?

What I felt about Bebaakee Web Series?

This love triangle is addictive. The chemistry between the three in their respective scenes is unmissable. Set the picturesque locales of Shimla, Bebaakee web series on ZEE5 is a definite change from the city setting of almost all content you watch!

If you love watching romance shows – you will love this.

I also like web series because they don’t drag unnecessarily. The run time of each episode of Bebaakee is about 25 mins which I think is just great for binge-watching.

Cast of ZEE5 Bebaakee Web Series

Kushal Tandon already enjoys a massive fan following and does a great job as Sufiyan.  Shivjyoti Rajput who debuts with this web series does a pretty nice job too. Her face is fresh and her acting skills are nice.

cast bebaakee web series zee5 kushaltandon shivjyoti rajputSource ZEE5.com

Karan Jotwani who plays the character of Imtiaz does a good in bringing the humour quotient.

The web series also has an ensemble cast of Krutika Desai, Suchitra Pillai, Ananya Khare, Mohit Chauhan, Sameer Malhotra, and Indraneel Bhattacharya who all have pretty interesting roles. And not to forget you can find a four-legged cutie too.

I quite liked watching Bebaakee on ZEE5.  These days I enjoy the content on OTT platforms more. So if you are someone who enjoys it, I am sure you will like this web series too on ZEE5. It’s streaming now #ZEE5Club brings unlimited entertainment for all family members.

Let me know if you have watched it already or you are going to watch it. What have you been watching lately?

5 Benefits of Baby Massage: How and Why you need to do it with a baby massage oil?

by tinabasu August 27, 2020
written by tinabasu

Benefits of Baby Massage – makes the baby feel relaxed, is a great bonding time for you two. A good baby massage oil helps to strengthen their bones and muscles.

When you became a new mom, didn’t you just want to pick your baby up and give him a cuddle first thing in the morning? Touching, cuddling, rubbing the backs are all ways of showing affection which babies understand. For mums, the power of touch, skin-to-skin to soothe the baby is natural and instinctive. Baby massage is another way to make your baby feel relaxed and soothe him especially if he’s cranky or experiencing colic or gas.

How I started massaging my baby?

My son was born in July amidst a full monsoon season. The doctor had asked to sponge him for the first month. After he was about 35-day old, I started giving him proper oil massage. He also suffered from colic pain during that time. My paed had suggested massages and back rubs.

I never took the help of a ‘malishwali’ or nanny, I did it all myself – good use of the maternity leave, I must say! My little one also enjoyed his massage time because it was the time for playing with the mum and doing leg exercises.

I have seen the benefits of oil massages in my baby. It’s not just a ritual that is being practiced in India since ancient times, it is also scientific.  The ‘malish’ time is for relaxation and relief. The best way to put a cranky infant to a good night’s sleep is with a good massage.

I have had days when my infant would feel so relaxed with the oil massage, that he would sleep off on the massage mat.

There are varied health and psychological benefits of baby massage. A good baby massage oil helps to strengthen the bones and muscles of an infant. Organic baby massage oils made from extracts of nuts are some of the best massage oils you can use for your baby.

5 Benefits of Baby Massage

#1 Health Benefits

Many infants suffer from colic and constipation. Baby massages help to stimulate the circulatory and digestive system of a baby. It will give quick relief from gas, colic, cramps or constipation.

#2 Develop Strong Bones

Sesame oil is known to help your baby develop strong bones. Choose a baby massage oil that has sesame oil in it and use it regularly for strong bones and muscles.

#3 Beneficial for Preterm babies

Baby massages are known to be beneficial for pre-term babies who need special care. Light massages with baby oil result in improved weight gain, good digestion, and bowel movement, and improves brain activities.

#4 Helps the baby to relax

While the baby massage oil helps to nourish the skin gently, it also helps to soothe and relax the baby. It results in less fussing and less crying.

#5 Bonding Time with the mum

Baby massages encourages a great bonding time between the mother and the baby. It is a positive way to get to know each other and establish the bond.

How often can you give baby massage?

A daily baby massage is a good practice with infants. It should be included in your daily routine. You can have a massage routine right before bath time. Some parents also prefer giving massages in the evening or night time since massages helps baby to sleep easily.

Which Baby Massage Oil is best for my baby?

There are various kinds of baby massage oil available. However, organic products are always best for your baby and his sensitive skin. Various oils have different benefits according to the ingredients in the oil. Coconut oil, almond oil, sesame oil are some of the best oils for baby’s massage. You can choose any of these oils or a mix of oils and herbs for massaging your baby.

Is Ayurvedic oil a better option?

Ayurveda is an ancient Indian science and the process of extracting goodness from natural organic ingredients is a precise process. Ayurvedic products are 100% natural so you can always be assured that it won’t have any side effects.

Mother Sparsh Baby Massage Oil – how is it? My honest opinion

Mother sparsh baby massage oil

I have recently come across the Mother Sparsh Baby Massage oil that is an Ayurvedic oil made with coconut oil, almond oil, walnut oil, avocado oil among many other organic ingredients.

I always do my own searches before using a product or reviewing it. I came across a video which explains how this baby massage oil is made. It is made in a very traditional process or the “Ayurvedic decoction” process. You can check that for yourself.

This is how our ayurvedic baby massage oil is prepared. Step 1. Take 6 herbs Shankhpushapi, Ashwagandha, Durva, Lajjalu, Tagar and Tamalpatra. Step 2. Add 4 times of water and boil this mixture till 1/4 of water is left(decoction method) Step 3: Filter this decoction and add it to sesame oil. Step 4: Boil it again until the last droplet of water gets evaporated. The properties of decoction enters into oil and all water is evaporated through boiling only. Step 5 : Then it is cooled , having properties of all boiled herbs in the decoction. After cooling, all oils are added with constant stirring so that proper mixing should take place and actives of the herbs should get uniformly distributed all over the oil homogeneously. Ayurvedic baby massage oil is ready now!! . . . #ayurveda #ayurvedicmassage #massageoil #MotherSparsh #madeinindia #vocalforlocal

This natural oil has the goodness of various herbs like Shankhpushapi, Ashwagandha, Durva, Lajjalu, Tagar and Tamalpatra.

Apart from the main carrier oils – the Mother Sparsh baby massage oil has a blend of jojoba oil, rosehip oil, lavender essential oil, orange essential oil.

Mother sparsh baby massage oil

I have used this oil for my son. For infants however, I will recommend you do a patch test – with any new product you are introducing. My son is 5 years old now, and I still give him oil massages frequently – at least twice a week.

Sometimes, natural herbal oils have a strong smell of the herbs and that might put off a child. I felt nothing like that with the Mother Sparsh Baby Massage Oil.

This baby massage oil is 100% natural –  has no artificial color or fragrance, it has a light sesame oil fragrance.

It scores high for me because it has no additives and is so gentle on the skin. It is not very sticky and gets absorbed quite fast. Mother Sparsh has always wowed me with their products because they are natural and organic. I loved their plant based range of products.

Mother sparsh baby massage oil

So tell me mums, do you give massage to your baby regularly? I did my baby’s massage when he was an infant – no nanny or ‘malishwali’ for my son. Who does your baby’s oil massage? And what is your favorite baby massage oil? Let me know in the comments below.

7 Fun Activities to do with your child while at home – indoor activities for kids

by tinabasu August 14, 2020
written by tinabasu

Ladies, how is the time at home going with you and your kids? Keeping children busy and engaged requires lots of ideas! – Especially when she has to manage work, home, cook amongst all the other work! Ask me – I am living and breathing this too.

I thought of getting a keyboard for my son during the vacation– we could utilize the time to learn something new. But when the order got cancelled I had to think of something else.

Instead of sulking over it I actually sat down to see what all we had in the house and how we can make this time creative, fun and engaging.

I am sharing with you 7 fun activities to do with your child while at home. All of these are indoor activities for kids – toddlers and pre-schoolers that will keep them engaged and happy.

But before we begin, remember, kids are at home. So don’t mind if they are creating a mess. It’s okay, mamma – breathe and stay calm!

7 fun activities to do with your child

#1 Art & Crafts

Get your kids to sit with art & crafts. If you have coloured papers at home it’s great, else get creative with crayons and water colours.

We did a lot of art since Bluey has been home – pencil drawing, finger painting and water colours. It was a lot of fun.

art and craft ideas for kids

#2 Play & Learn

One of the best fun activities to do with your child while at home is play and learn through stories and play. I am running low on my printer ink, so didn’t quite want to print out activity sheets from the internet. Instead I created some fun maths activity sheets at home with my son’s favourite Legos!

#3 Gardening

Apartment living doesn’t mean you can’t have a garden. We have done a lot of container gardening and we are growing a lot of vegetables. Get your kid’s sand toys out and teach them how to water plants with the watering can in their play set! My son loves his gardening time.

gardening activities with kids

The easiest vegetable to grow from your kitchen is spinach. You can just plant the roots when you get a bunch from the market and see it growing amazing leaves within a few weeks. We have harvested several times and it’s a favourite activity for the 5-year old.

#4 Pool Party in your balcony

It is summer, so you can’t ideally say no to your kid’s request for a pool. Take your kids’ bathtub to the balcony, fill it with water and let him have a dip with his favourite toys.

My son says –“I am just chilling with my pretend friends!” (While the mom rolls her eyes for the 568th time)

We also have my morning coffee and Bluey’s glass of hot PediaSure out in the balcony where he pretends he’s a teacher and we are the students!

fun activities to do with kids

#5 Cook with Kids

Non fire cooking, baking are great ways to engage kids in your kitchen and teach them the importance of food and healthy eating. Total nutrition and healthy eating is an integral part of children’s growth.Recently we made the Healthy Chocolate Banana Pancake which is Mr. Bluey’sfavorite. It’s made of whole wheat flour (atta) and jaggery powder instead of white sugar.

He helps me in baking too –pouring measured items, greasing pans, and sometimes in whisking eggs too! We even come up with some interesting recipes that include adding his favourite PediaSure in. He finds it super fun and delicious too.

#6 Enjoy screen time together, for a change

Now that e-Learning is becoming popular, we have been exploring a lot online. Apart from his activity work books and story books, we try out apps that help kids learn. It’s been fun exploring all of this.He is also learning how to use the computer because of his online classes. His educative and fun shows we watch together, making screen time useful.

#7 Fun Games at Home

Games at home might sound difficult when your child exhausts all of his toys. We made games out of daily objects found in the house! Creating a treasure hunt with household objects is a fun way to keep your child on his toes. I loved making the clues (which I had to read out though).

We also did – obstacle races, made our own snake & ladder game, tic tac toe and what not!

Aren’t these some easy fun activities to do with your child while at home? All of these indoor activities for kids are safe for kids between 3 to 5 year olds and can be done with the help of a parent.

How to keep track of your health all the time in India – 6 tips to keep track of your health – #RestartRight

by tinabasu July 30, 2020
written by tinabasu

Want to know how to keep track of your health all the time in India in these uncertain times? Here are some health tips to help you restart your life the right way post the lockdown. #RestartRight

We are living in unprecedented times with uncertainty looming around. Last three months were a challenge, no one was prepared for. Stress, anxiety, fear we have gone through all in the past few months.

Now that we are restarting our lives back again and slipping into our daily work mode we still need to keep in mind – Health is our number #1 priority. Falling ill right now is not an option.

But, how do you restart the correct way? I am sharing a few health tips today that will help you to keep track of your health. Leading a healthy lifestyle is a choice you must make now.

6 Health Tips to keep track of your health

6-tips-to-keep-track-of-your-health-fi

#1 Eat Healthy – Eat Immunity Boosting foods in your diet

What we consume directly has an effect on our body and its ability to prevent, fight, and recover from infections. Healthy diets, with immunity-boosting foods, will make your body’s immunity stronger.

Eat whole grains like whole wheat, millets, quinoa, rice, lentils, and fresh vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are full of minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants which help in boosting immunity.

Try Immunity Boosting drinks – like turmeric milk (which now is trending worldwide as turmeric latte), ginger tea, tulsi tea.

You can also make Ayurvedic concoctions with ginger, pepper, honey, tulsi, and mulethi. Boil half a spoon of these, each in a glass of water. Strain and drink, once cool. We have been having this pretty often, and it tastes very good – so don’t get scared with the name!

immunity boosting ayurvedic drink

herbal tea with turmeric powder, slices and cinnamon

The lockdown did bring out our inner chefs and we all experimented with various dessert recipes – but right now limiting sugar intake is a wise idea. Go light on sugary juices, fizzy drinks. As a sweetener, use healthier options like jaggery powder.

#2 Quit Alcohol and Tobacco

If you were looking for motivations to quit tobacco this pandemic should be the right one. I remember watching a video of a survivor in the UK who was on a ventilator for a few days. The lady mentions “if you smoke, put the cigarettes down – you need your lungs to breathe”.

Alcohol is another vice for the society – it does not just affect your liver but your heart and brain. Stress-related drinking, if goes unchecked, can do more harm.

#3 Stay Physically Active

Physical activity is not always for weight loss but to keep your heart and body healthy. I and my son both do yoga and Zumba. Enroll in online classes, or follow videos on YouTube.

Freehand exercises, stretching, brisk walking will help in easing your muscles and improve circulation and muscle activity.

yoga to stay fit #restartRight

#4 Look after your mental wellbeing

Mental health and mental wellbeing is often overlooked but it is important. Good mental health is vital for kids, young and adults.

With work from home being the new normal we are also witnessing our work-life balance being compromised. But maintain time for work and a few hours for the family. Pick up the phone and facetime your friends and family.

Do anything that takes out stress.  I have picked up art after a very long time – I think right after school – and let me tell you, it is such a stress buster. I am doing it regularly now.

#5 Avoid crowd and transmission prone places

We might be going out, but the danger is still lurking out there. Only go out when you are required to. If you can work from home, please continue that. Avoid any crowded places. Just yesterday there has been a sudden spike in the number of cases with 19k people testing positive in a single day.

Avoid places like malls, movie theatres, hospitals, anywhere near the containment zones. Don’t forget your masks and sanitizers.

I am in fact, consulting doctors online too. I spoke to my son’s paed online via video call. There are so many apps today that help you connect with doctors. Worried about how to keep track of your health all the time in India? You can check the IL Take Care App where you can not only speak to the doctor but get a prescription and order your medicines too. Speaking of medicines and current health situation, a good health insurance is what everyone needs. While on the Take Care app, you can also scroll through the complete health insurance plans that ICICI Lombard has on offer. With the app, it’s so easy to choose and buy an insurance policy that suits your needs! Digital is the new normal and it is a boon today.

#6 Practice Positive Parenting

This lockdown has been a big challenge for all the moms – who are not only working from home but doing the chores, looking after kids, entertaining them, and doing what not! I can see myself, becoming a pre-primary teacher in the absence of online classes in the state, art teacher, playdate companion, baking partner – I am actually playing many roles.

Kids are affected both physically and mentally during this time. Not going to school, not meeting friends, no park, no play date. It is frustrating. So it is most important as parents to keep your cool and practice positive parenting.

by tinabasu July 18, 2020
written by tinabasu

Want to watch a gripping psychological thriller series amidst the pandemic? Watch Mafia on ZEE5. Here’s Mafia review for thriller lovers.

Digital platform is the new normal right now, agreed? I am watching all the content on digital these days. The latest being this gripping psychological thriller series Mafia on ZEE5. Directed by debutant director Birsa Dasgupta, this thriller relates the story of six estranged friends whose reunion turns into a nightmare.

Want to know how it fared for me? Read on for the full review of Mafia on ZEE5.

Mafia Storyline

This psychological thriller, Mafia, weaves a story on violence and trauma hidden in the guise of a mystery thriller. Six thick college friends drifted apart for various reasons. When one of them gets engaged it becomes the occasion to bring everyone together. Instead of fancy bachelorette trip they plan a reunion trip to Madhupur, Jharkhand, to spend some time in a bungalow in the middle of the jungle.

However, they had taken a similar trip to this very place six years ago when the events had scarred their friendship. A gripping storyline unfolds shifting between the past and the present – making this thriller series a fast-paced one.

Mafia on Zee5 – Will the past will come to haunt their fancy lives now?

Mafia gets its name from the age old party game – “police, mafia and villagers” or what we call “chor-police”. The mafia continues to kill villagers until the police can correctly identify the mafia.

This eight-part thriller series has everything in it to give you your binge-worthy entertainment. When you start, you can only finish it and get up! A wonderful narrative, anger, rage, shock – this series provides almost all of these emotions.

What I loved about Mafia on ZEE5?

The female solidarity among the characters is so unique and amazing in Mafia. Caste dynamics, power abuse, complicated male characters make the series gripping and interesting.

The fear factor is also brought in through the lost stranger in the jungle – Nitin. With some great acting, Namit Das brings in the distrust and chill and is a character you will enjoy watching.

People behind Mafia, Zee5 – Mafia Cast

This thriller web-series is produced by Parambrata Chatterjee and Eskay Movies. Birsa Dasgupta makes his directorial debut with this series.

You can’t miss some good acting by Tanmay Dhanania as Rishi, Madhurima Roy as Tanya, Anindita Bose as Neha, Ishaa M Saha as Ananya, and Namit Das as Nitin.

What I felt?

Mafia is not just a web series it is a game, a game of dishonesty. I liked the narrative of this thriller series. You close your eyes, someone gets killed in the game, and the others have a chance to find the Mafia and make it stop.

If you like to watch thrillers and looking for interesting content on an OTT platform then Mafia on Zee5 is a good binge watch series for you.

If you have already watched, let me know how you liked it, in the comments below.
