This DIY Hair Mask is all you need for shiny soft hair. This DIY Hair Conditioning hair mask with Egg yolk is full of protein and an easy solution to get rid of rough damaged hair.

I have never been a DIY person, and it is only lately that I am indulging in self-love and self-care and believe me I am reaping the benefits. I wonder I never did such a thing in my teens. I have made a few DIY hair masks and face masks and they turned out really well. SoI thought why not share them with my readers. The DIY Hair Conditioning hair mask with egg yolk, yogurt and honey is my go to hair mask whenever I feel my hair is becoming dry, brittle and unmanageable.

What makes hair dry and unmanageable?

Dry hair can be results of using excessive chemicals like hair color, regular ironing, perming, daily blow drying, chemical straighteners, hard water. I keep my hair protected from chemicals mostly. Since I don’t have any grey hair (yet) I don’t color my hair. It’s naturally dark brown and I wear it that way. Bu I still suffer from dry hair at times and that’s because of the quality of water. Bangalore is infamous for its hard water. The water that we get is mostly from bore well which then gets filtered but it still very hard. This hard water can play a havoc with your hair resulting in dry frizzy hair and hair loss.

What goes inside this DIY Hair Mask?

We have a lot of eggs for breakfast. And every time I am making an egg white omelette, I make this DIY Hair Conditioning hair mask with Egg Yolk. Nothing goes for waste.

Apart from egg yolks, I use honey which is a natural conditioner because it retains and attracts moisture, keeping your hair healthy and shining.

Yogurt is full of protein. Lactic acids in yogurt cleanses the scalp, clears dead skins and helps hair follicles to grow.

How to make the DIY Hair Conditioning hair mask with Egg Yolk?

  1. Take 3 egg yolks in a bowl. I am taking three because I have mid waist length hair. If you have shoulder length hair you can take 1.
  1. Pour 3 tablespoons of plain yogurt in it.
  1. Add 2 teaspoons of honey and mix it nicely till everything is incorporated.

How to apply:

1..Dip fingers or a hair brush in the hair mask, make small sections of the hair and apply from root to tip.

2. Apply the mask on your scalp and massage for 2 minutes.

Note: Never massage your scalp with your palm as it will lead to breakage. Always use the tip of your fingers.

3. Once applied, wear a shower cap and leave the mask on hair for 30 minutes. The mask will be sticky. Rinse under normal water and then wash off with a a mild shampoo.

Note: Never wash your hair under warm or hot water after you have applied any egg or banana hair mask. You don’t want the egg cooked on your hair!

 

You can use this DIY Hair Conditioning hair mask with Egg Yolk every week to see a visible difference in the quality of hair. As for me, the hair turned shiny like some light reflector – totally Instagram worthy!

Are you a morning person? No? Remember the times when your mum used to keep telling you – wake up early, study early in the morning, people do better when they study early! There’s no mom who have NOT given these dialogues. My mom, is an expert at these. But I was never a morning person. I hated waking up early to go to tuition classes. Only thing I enjoyed probably were the morning swimming classes early in the morning before school.

But very recently I have become a morning person. I rather have now been pushed to become a morning person by needs. The little man in the house doesn’t like his mum working apparently. Whenever he catches mum with the laptop he wants to close it down. Now to avoid that civil war the mum is waking up at 5 AM for last 2 months! Kids can make you do the impossible too, believe me!

Why is it cool to be a morning person?

I have noticed a few changes ever since I became a morning person.

– I tend to wake up these days without an alarm clock

– I feel fresh in the morning

– It’s a calm peaceful time to catch up on work – don’t read your emails first thing in the morning

– I get a good window of 3 hours before the little man wakes up

So isn’t that really cool? Peace of mind while you catch the rising sun and say Hello, I am up before you!

I am pretty lazy when it comes to fitness. Some days I walk – not too consistent, some days I swim again not too consistent. And some days I simple do some stretching exercise. I sit on my sofa and do it. In fact, you can do a quick meditation at any point of time in the day at any place. Sometimes doing a quick five-minute meditation at your workplace is great too.

#4 Morning Ritual – Add protein to your breakfast

DO NOT SKIP YOUR BREAKFAST. If you do that regularly, it’s a sin. STOP IT. If you want a healthier you – eat breakfast. It is the most important meal of your day. A good healthy power breakfast will help you improve your metabolism and help you lose weight.

Add proteins in your breakfast. Eat egg white omelette, add walnuts or almonds to your oatmeal, add chia seeds in your cereals. They will add a good protein boost in your food and make you ready for a healthier day.

#5 Morning Ritual – Don’t use Social Media for 20 minutes

This is a very important morning ritual to do. Even if you are tempted to take out your phone and go through your social media timelines or check emails first thing in the morning – DON’T DO IT. It will help in decluttering the mind. You are going to use social media, emails at work any which way, throughout the day – just skip early in the morning.

As treat the first 30 minutes after I wake up as a ME TIME. Self-care is very important, believe me. After that I do sit down to write a post.

The size of the brain of a baby at birth is almost 70% of adult size of the brain. Poor nutrition, often, hinders in neurodevelopmental potential and brain development of the baby.

Happy Teachers Day, to all the teachers and moms out there. Moms are the first teachers in baby’s lives s you deserve to be celebrated today. My tot is now three and loves painting and doing crafts. So I thought why not make a Teachers Day DIY Greeting card for his teachers at school. Crafts with kids is a great way in reducing screen time too. So keep reading on.

This was a very impromptu idea of making cards for his teachers. I didn’t want him to go and just say Happy Teachers Day. It easy to buy cards and gifts these days, but is fun to make one and involve kids in making that. We actually made two cards for two teachers of his class.

What do you need for this DIY Greeting Card?

For Card No 1

  1. White Chart paper
  2. Any colored paper (wrapping paper, scrap book paper)
  3. Scissors
  4. Glue
  5. Paint brush
  6. Paint – acrylic/ water color
  7. Black pen

How to Make this Happy Teachers Day DIY Greeting Card? #1 Butterfly Card

  1. Cut the white chart paper in your desired size. I have not stuck to the typical greeting card size of 5×5 or 5×7 inches. You can stick to that size if you want to use readily available envelopes.
  1. Cut a thin strip of wrapping paper and stick it to the bottom part of the greeting card leaving 5 mm from the edge.
  1. Draw a big butter fly wing shape with rounded corners in a contrast wrapping paper, cut it with scissors, and stick it on the left hand side of the first strip.
  1. Draw a smaller butter fly wing shape with rounded corners on white chart paper, cut it with scissors, and stick on the bigger butterfly wing shape.
  1. Take a black marker pen and write Happy Teacher’s Day on the white part.
  1. Take a 4 inch strip of green chart paper, fold it in half and draw butterfly wings on the folded edge.
  1. Make the wings in random shape and size, all doesn’t need to look similar. Cut the shapes out with scissors
  1. With a black pen draw a few lines and curves on the white part of the greeting card
  1. Stick the green butterflies on the lines in random order. Glue only the folded mark in middle. The edges of the wings should be left free and not stuck with glue.

Inside the card

The insides of the card have some personalized messages for the teachers. You can simply write a message or be creative. I have taken some inspiration from the internet and thought painting my son’s hand could be a good idea.

  1. Place your kids hand and trace the outline.
  1. Color the hand outline and fill it up with red. I have used acrylic paint here for bolder smoother color.
  1. Write a message on top
  1. Sign off with your kid’s name
  1. I have added some message on the left hand size page of the card too.

How to Make this Happy Teachers Day DIY Greeting Card? #2 Flower Card

  1. Cut the white chart paper in your desired size. This is roughly 6x 4 size.
  1. Dip your kid’s for finger in paint and make dots on the greeting card in round shape to make flower patter.
  1. Repeat the previous step with two more colors. You can use any color combination
  1. Take a paint brush and draw the stem and leaves.
  1. Take blue and light green water colors to paint sky and land to give a little dimension to the image.
  1. Write Happy Teacher’s Day with Black pen.

Inside the card

I didn’t want to do two similar arts on both the cards, but still wanted to use his hand.

  1. Put water color or acrylic color on your kids hand and press it on the paper to get the hand print.
  1. Repeat this step with two more colors. You can use any color combination, I have used red, pink and yellow.
  1. Use a paint brush to draw the stem and leaves.
  1. Add a message for the teacher
  1. I have added some message on the left hand side page too.

Envelopes

I didn’t have any envelopes in this size, so ended up making some envelopes with plain white printing paper. And then just drew some patterns on the edge to give a little look.

Now wasn’t that an easy DIY Greeting card for Teachers’ Day? We stuck little chocolates on the envelopes for some “muh meetha” time.

By the way did you notice, how my tiny man is dressed up as a teacher today! Fake glasses on and kohl pencil moustache made him look cute. He also said I am an angry pouty teacher!
