We live in a time where we are completely dependent on technology. There isn’t a thing in our life now, where technology doesn’t play a part. Are you thankful for technology?
The decision to quit a job in one of the biggest FMCG brands was not easy. A job for a girl is not just about the paycheck, it is part of her identity and personality. I have received a lot of flak directly and indirectly that I gave up my career. Not many try to understand the emotions of a mother. People assume the moment your maternity leave ends you should be back at work and if you don’t you are not a professional woman and you are tagged “just a Stay-at-Home mom”. But did I really give up my career? Actually, I didn’t. I am that person who knows to bake the cake and eat it too! When you have confidence in yourself and your skillset, you don’t need a brand for your work – YOU are the brand.
I am indebted to technology for my identity. Where would I be if there wasn’t technology readily available at my disposal to start off a new career in Blogging? Do I express gratitude towards these little oxygens of my work life? Rarely. But today is the day when I must mention why I am thankful for technology.
Thankful For Technology #1 INTERNET
I still remember I was in 5th standard when we had this new Computer Classroom in school and the new addition to the curriculum. That’s when we first got the glimpse of the internet. From that day till now the internet has been the friend philosopher and guide in life. For anything and everything, I am dependent on the World Wide Web. The days my Wi-Fi doesn’t behave I almost lose my mind. Can I really survive without the internet? May be a week at max (i.e. if I am on a holiday) but then how will I Instagram the holiday photos! See the paradox?
Thankful For Technology #2 COMPUTERS
As a graphic designer, I owe a lot to my laptop and the softwares I use. Practically my career as a graphic designer will vanish if I am robbed off my (already dying) humble laptop. Can you survive without a computer / handheld device today? I think not.

Thankful For Technology #3 PHONE
Today, without a phone I feel handicapped – quite literally. Am I a phone addict? I am a blogger and a social media influencer – hell yes I am a phone addict. I am present everywhere all the time. How I wish Siri could manage all my social media activities. I am thankful to my iPhone for being so patient with my son. He has abused the phone in every possible demonic way of a toddler but it still works and I click all the photos for my food blog on the iPhone. So I am pretty sure my food blog won’t survive if my phone breaks down and suddenly I realize my account says not enough money to fund a new phone. [Which is quite possible, you know how much struggle bloggers need to do for the payments to actually reach in their accounts].
Thankful For Technology #4 APPLIANCES
Can I survive a minimalist life where I don’t have access to any appliance? NO ABSOLUTELY NOT. I am highly dependent on almost all the appliances in the house to function properly and keep my sanity. I can’t get back to stone age!

Loving this concept slowly…:)
#ThankfulThursdays
I understand the feeling Tine, when you quit your well settled job for someone you love. I had been there, done that. Yes, I am thankful for technology in many ways. It gave me wings, it helped me find my own identity. It helps me connect with the world. It helps me grow.
Happy to join with you for #ThankfulThursdays. Looking forward for more as you said.

So relate with you as I left my job too for my son but then Blogging became my second baby with the help of internet..
Those are excellent reasons to be thankful indeed. What would we do without technology is anyone’s guess?
I swear one can not survive without technology wether freelancers or full time working people. Though there are some drawbacks ( calls at home ) but overall the flexibility is such a boon.
