Amazing Life – Step 1 to a Meaningful Life A to Z Challenge 2017

“The secret of Happiness is to admire without desiring” – Carl Sandburg.

lead-an-amazing-life-meaning-life-lifestyle

What is it you require to have an amazing life? The answer lies within YOU. You first need yourself to be by your side – all the time. Make yourself strong within to stand by yourself when no one is willing to. You are your best friend and you know your story the best.

Life is meant to be amazing, not just good or better but amazing. It’s not about how many Gucci hand bags you have or which farthest exotic destination you are going this summer. Life is much more than your material possessions. If you have to choose between spending your money for a designer shoe or a weekend out with your entire family which one would you choose? The Jimmy Choo?

Let’s take it that you chose the Jimmy Choo, you will feel wonderful for a week, you will show it off at every other party – it will stay with you for few months and after that the entire craze for it is over! What a bummer – it surely will have a nice place in your shoe rack and upteen photos on Instagram.

If you, on the other hand, chose the weekend gateway with your entire family you will create tons of Instagram worthy photos as well but the most important part is you will create wonderful memories -happy memories that will stay with you for a life time. You will have stories to share with your kids later.

True life is lived when tiny changes occur – Leo Tolstoy

Your choices, your thoughts, the decisions that you take determines how amazing can you make your life. Live simple. Dream Big. Laugh Lots. Be Amazing. Give Love.

5 Things I am Thankful for when I wake up in the morning #ThankfulThursday

by tinabasu March 31, 2017
written by tinabasu

Great attitude is like a perfect cup of coffee, don’t start your day without it. Good Morning – Unkown.

Well that wasn’t a coffee advert! Do you like your mornings? I am not a morning person at all – I hate the sound of alarm. I am more of a night person. I have hated waking up early right from childhood. I still don’t understand how some people wake up at the crack of dawn every day – yes every single day! I can do it sometimes but not regularly. But when I bought my apartment in the suburbs I had to wake up early and leave for work by 740 AM. And I can see myself having early mornings in the future when my son joins school. But there certainly is something great about every new morning – even if that’s a 8’o clock morning. There are many things I am thankful for when I wake up in the morning.

My Little Man Sleeping by my side (or just about anywhere in the bed)

That I love my baby is an understatement – its same for every mom. I like when he snuggles up to me. I have tried him putting him in his bed but he hates it – he has hated from his infancy. He sleeps in one position and rotates in the bed throughout the night. By the time it’s morning he’s either at some corner or has his foot on my face. Half the time I am woken up with a tug or kick or some hulk smash from the little guy. The impact of these smashes is getting intense as he is growing up but I am still thankful for having him in life and making me a better person.

The Terrace Garden

I water my garden in the morning and evening and look forward to doing that. The blooms, the little buds, the fresh new leaves, the greens are all therapeutic. It gives me the much-needed dose of freshness every morning. I planted some spinach roots – from the store bought bunch) a few weeks back. And they have grown leaps and bounds and looking super awesome. I also planted a carrot top and that has become a cute little shrub.

My Devices and Internet

This probably should go up one in the order because that’s what I do when I wake up. Check my mails, DM, briefs, moderate comments on my phone or iPad. Without the devices or the internet I feel weird. My son finishes up all the high speed data way before the cycle is over and I have to do with a crawling internet speed some times. But imagine if I am stranded without the internet. Nightmare – NO WORK DONE!

The House helps

What exactly would I do if the house helps don’t turn up? I am thankful when they turn up else it’s mayhem in here with the little man trampling over every damn thing. And when they don’t up (which happens quite often) I go mad. I almost pray every morning – please bring them over to work!

Thankful to life

There are lot of things in my life that I don’t like – BUT there are many more that I like, love and am thankful for. That’s who I am and I am thankful for that.

How to Plan a Date at Juhu Beach on A Shoe String Budget

by tinabasu March 28, 2017
written by tinabasu

“Love don’t cost a thing” — Jennifer Lopez

Are you on a tight budget? A little imaginative thought on your part and a laid-back significant other can make an unforgettable date.  It will also leave some change in your pocket, making it absolutely worth.

If Mumbai is the home of Bollywood, then Juhu is where the Bollywood celebrities reside. Juhu is a posh neighborhood in Mumbai, and it is famous for the sprawling Juhu Beach. An affluent area of the city, Juhu is snuggled between the Arabian Sea on its west, Versova in the North, Santa Cruz in the East, and Khar in the South.

Juhu Beach is a popular tourist destination and is frequented by locals similarly. With abundant eateries and picturesque scenery, it is a perfect spot for a beach date. If you are planning to take your significant other on a date at Juhu Beach, you can do it on a budget! You can also find many hotels in Juhu, Mumbai, but OYO Rooms is where you should head to since they offer best services at a very competitive price. There are a lot of things you can do at Juhu Beach. Read on to find out how you can make memories worth cherishing!

Take a Walk on the Soft Sand of Juhu Beach

Beach and love are synonyms, aren’t they? Take a walk to remember with your lover on the soft sand of Juhu Beach. Hold a conversation, enjoy the silence, laugh with each other while you walk hand in hand and take baby steps with someone special.

Watch a Play at Prithvi Theatre

Who said theater is not romantic? A play can give you an insight and may bring out a more sensitive persona. Prithvi Theatre is a rage among the theatre-lovers, and there is always something special on the play. There is also a Prithvi Café which is no less of a treat especially when it is dotted with dim China lamps.

Street Food

Juhu has a plethora of options to savor your palate on a date. From seafood to local ‘Amchi’ Mumbai street food, you will find everything on a shoestring budget. Juhu Beach is famous for its Chat, Pav Bhaji, Ice Golas, Vada Pav, and Prawns. You can finish it off with the famous Masala Chai at the Gajalee.

Sunset

A date at any beach is incomplete if you do not watch the sunset while hundreds of waves hit the shore. Juhu is no different. Find a corner, sit back, and relax and let the atmosphere engulf you. The chaotic and colorful sky is surely going to take you down the memory lane. You can even get a prediction from the numerous ‘psychic robots’ on the beach.

Star Gazing

No, star gazing is not standing outside a building of a celebrity and waiting for them to show up. That is utterly unromantic, isn’t it? What you should do is, gaze at thousands of stars in the sky after dark from Juhu Beach. Now that is romantic, right? Build a sand castle and let the moon light your citadel.

Capture Moments

No date is complete without capturing the beautiful moments spent with your lover. It is an obligation to click selfies and share your happiness with the world. Make sure you capture beautiful moments with your love interest and cherish those moments later!

Make the best out of your date at Juhu Beach and plan it efficiently. Everything mentioned above fits nicely, especially if you are on a shoestring budget. If you want to spend convenient time with your significant other and you are looking for hotels in Juhu Mumbai, then head out to OYO Rooms. India’s largest branded network of hotels, OYO Rooms offer standardized services, 24×7 Wi-Fi, and complimentary breakfast at pocket-friendly prices!

100 Word Fiction – The Dream House

The big house stood in front of her with a beautifully decorated front porch.

It looked like a dream – a dream she had once saw with Amit.

However, Amit was always busy with work and travelling.

She sacrificed her career for their child, she was the good wife but he wasn’t the same anymore.

God please let it not be true!

She rang the bell with a lump in her throat.

But the horror turned into reality when Amit opened the door with a child on tow.

The tip-off from his friend turned true. Amit did have another family in Pune.

5 Small Joys in Life you are Thankful for- #ThankfulThursday Week 21

by tinabasu March 24, 2017
written by tinabasu

It is important to practice thankfulness not for anyone else but for yourself. Living in gratitude is a way of life. Are you thankful that you have a family to love, are you thankful that you have a fan to switch on when it’s too hot, are you thankful to have a good night’s sleep. These are small things that we take in our lives for granted and never appreciate till we are robbed off it, may be. Over #ThankfulThursday today we discuss the small joys in life that you are thankful for.

5 Small Joys in Life you are Thankful for- #ThankfulThursday Week 21 | Tina Basu

Appreciation can make a day – even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary.-Margaret Cousins

Small joys in life #1 – WiFi

What the hell would I do if there wasn’t internet or WiFi. I am logged in to my devices 24 x 7 and no not to just check Facebook and Twitter. The internet is the medium I earn and without connectivity I absolutely go crazy. My son is on You Tube almost all the time and has finished up my 102 GB high speed data already and now my WiFi is crawling like a snail making me go mad. But it is still bearable because it’s there and I can finish my work – imagine if we had a power break down and don’t have WiFi running for an entire day! I don’t even want to think about it!

Small joys in life #2 – Resources on the Internet

Much like how I am dependent on WiFi I am also highly dependent on the resources available on the internet. I am self-learned blogger and I am the one who runs everything in both my blogs – shifting to self-hosting, clicking editing photos, making SEO rich content (okay, I am learning), Social Media and blah blah. The amount of resource available on the net is overwhelming but thanks to them I learn every day. I am forever a student I make it a point I learn something new each day even if that’s as little as what are long-tailed-keywords!

Small joys in life #3 – Baby Talks

Bluey has been speaking a lot – in his own language which I can’t make head or tails but I find it wonderful because of the unique tune he adds at the end of it. I wish I understood his language and join in the conversation. I have been panicking that he’s not talking yet, but all this baby talk has sent that panic on the back seat.

Small joys in life #4 – Enjoying a night by myself

I like having my own time sometimes. Being awake entire night – reading, writing, enjoying a drink or going off on a drive – just like that. Well not necessarily after the drink! Early morning and late night drives are wonderful to think straight sometimes. But I am not a morning person at all! But I am thankful for such small joys in life where I can be care free and do what I want.

Small joys in life #5 – Work From Home

This has been one of the biggest joys lately – no boss, no wastage of time traveling, no gossip (do I miss gossip though?) being with Bluey and still work. I am happy being my own boss. When life throws a challenge accept it and master it. This is however, not just any small joys in life, currently it is the best joy in life.

A to Z Challenge 2017 Theme Reveal – All About Life

by tinabasu March 20, 2017
written by tinabasu

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all” – Helen Keller. How often do we introspect about our own life? We as humans are in a rat race – admit it or not. You are rushing at work, rustling through daily chores, managing our responsibilities have our shares of socializing and dates and holidays – but are we living life to our fullest? If you ask me – the answer would be no.

During my under-graduation days when I used to ask myself – what the hell are you doing in your life, answers were you have to study well, you have to pass your exams, you have to get into a PG course, you have to get a job!

While I was working, the answers to the same question were
a. You have to do well at work
b. Get to a better position
c. Buy a car
d. Go on Holidays

A year back when I asked the same question I asked myself back – have I really lived my life so far? Unfortunately, the answer has been NO. Then I realized it has to do more with what I want and what I need. It’s probably within me to lead a better peaceful life – but something I had not done earlier.

Also, I guess with age you become wiser (okay I am 31 and not 80, if you thought so). I have made many lifestyle changes lately – I am practicing Thankfulness, I am probably little more open to help people than earlier, I have started loving myself (okay, now this is not nepotism but I think I am good, and there’s nothing wrong in admitting that!)

So this April I am sharing 26 Steps to a Meaningful Life – where you celebrate yourself, feel good about yourself and get all sorts of positive vibe from my space!

26-steps-to-meaningful-life-life-theory-positive-life-lifestyle-atozchallenge
So watch out this entire month, everyday except the Sundays one new step to a wonderful Life!
