VLCC BelleWave Facial Treatment Review

by tinabasu March 18, 2017
written by tinabasu

Getting a facial is commonly seen as something you do only when you want to treat yourself. It’s an important beauty treatment for the good health of your skin. Now you have BelleWave facials and beauty treatments in India through VLCC. Here’s the VLCC BelleWave facial review for you to decide on advanced skin care.

With today’s lifestyle, an overwhelming amount of pollution, dirt and grime accumulates on the face and that is inevitable. After becoming a mom I hardly get any time for myself as I juggle between my son, my house and my work. I get a clean-up done often to keep my skin clean, but really pampering my skin is rare. Recently when I got an opportunity of a facial at VLCC through World of Moms, I grabbed it immediately. A good facial and pampering session is much needed not only to keep the skin good but to take away all the stress.

It’s pretty hot in Bangalore at the moment and the dry heat makes my skin really weird. When I visited the VLCC Koramangala branch, the branch coordinator Rizwana and Beauty Manager Yojna did my skin analysis. I thankfully didn’t have any white head or black head problem but had dull skin. Yojna suggested I should try a hydrating facial that will relax the skin, give it much needed moisture, glow and correct the dull and uneven skin tone! Now, who can say no to it! Read on for my VLCC BelleWave Facial Review.

BelleWave HydroWave Treatment

They upgraded me to one of their advanced facials from the International Range – BelleWave HydroWave Professional Facial. If you are aware of the beauty and cosmetic industry then the name BelleWave Cosmetics will make you do a happy dance.

VLCC-BelleWave-HydroWave-Treatment

The VLCC BelleWave Facial range is a high-performance skin-care product made in Switzerland. BelleWave products use the finest blend of vitamins and natural botanical ingredients. Hydrowave products are formulated with more than 80% pure Marine Collagen which helps in skin’s hydration mechanism. They are free from Mineral Oils and parabens and have not been tested on animals. I say wow to that! There are various BelleWave treatments for skin depending on the need. The one I did, HydroWave, was for my dehydrated skin for the much-needed moisture boost.

How was the Facial Like?

I was in for a pampering time. I love it when salons have private rooms for facials. I don’t like sitting in a reclined chair for long, it gives me bad neck pain. The room in VLCC was spacious, aromatic and dimly lit – just to get you in the mood for a relaxing spa time.

This is not a regular cleaning-scrubbing-massage-mask kind of facial. It is little more advanced with several steps. It started with a light massage for relaxation followed by a cleansing with the Hydrowave cleanser that takes off dirt, makeup and every bit of grime on your face.

Next you have a toner that soothes your skin. Then you have a light serum applied and left on the skin for 8 minutes. That was followed by a light massage which works like a mild scrub. Since my skin is little acne prone I quite hate the entire scrubbing and steaming process. But this scrub was so gentle that you won’t even feel the harshness. I love it when my skin behaves and doesn’t have too many whiteheads (I hardly ever get any black heads) thus post steaming the whitehead removal was pretty painless and hassle free.

After some more toning there was a pack of the Aqua Revival Ampoule. This is something that you will never get in any normal facial however expensive it is. The ampoule delivers added moisture which locks hydration in skin. It was very cooling and relaxing.

vlcc-hydrowave-facial-aqua-revival-ampoule-bellewave

Yojna, my beauty manager for the day, took care to explain to me every step and names of the products and kept checking if anything caused any irritation while I was merrily drifting away in the zen mode.

Instead of a massage cream I got a massage with the Hydrowave Vita Burst Massage Gel which had microcapsules of Vitamin –E. I love Vitamin –E in anyway – it is great for your skin and hair.

Post massage there was the facial pack. Now I have used a  number of packs so far in different facials. But this one was very different. Instead of a clay mask, or a peel off mask or a skin tightening mask it was a mousse mask.

The HydroGlacier TherapyTM HA-Glacier Velvet Mousse is a very hydrating and cooling mask which saturates moisture and seals hydration in skin. It has an activator that is used to make this mousse mask. It doesn’t dry off like other masks. I found this mask very cooling and calming on my skin. The mask was left on for about 20 minutes and I could feel it was making my skin soft. The VLCC BelleWave Facial Mousse Mask is a winner for me.

Did I notice a difference on my skin?

Hell yes, my skin became super soft and had a bounce like feeling. A normal facial would last for an hour or so this was almost two and half hours of skin pampering. My skin was well hydrated, much brighter and visibly even toned after the facial treatment.

That’s Beauty manager Yojna who did a fab job with my skin

If you are visiting the VLCC Koramanagal branch for a facial or any beauty treatment ask for Beauty Manager Yojna – she did a fab job with my skin. After a day my skin was glowing and still visibly brighter and even toned.

Who should take up the VLCC BelleWave Facial?

If you have a skin like mine, acne prone, dehydrated, dull due to heat and pollution then you must give the VLCC BelleWave Facial treatment a try. It costs about 3800/- per facial which including taxes comes to 4025 INR. If you are happy with the results – like me – you can get a few sessions done over a few months to see a huge difference in your skin. VLCC BelleWave Facial range has homecare products too that you can get from VLCC centers. I walked out with two of them!

What can you do to get some discounts?

You don’t have to do much, thank your stars – the time is just right. Entire March you can avail a 50% discount if you book a treatment with VLCC across India. This offer is valid only till March end 2017. Then why should you wait?

The Lost Trail – #FridayFotoFiction Week 17

short-fiction-micro-fiction-friday-foto-fiction

“It’s your idea to take this trail, we are doomed now!”

“It’s ok Maya, we’ll find the group they’ll be somewhere around.”

“I can’t walk any more in this heat.”

Weary and exhausted Maya trudged and parked herself on a stone while Akash moved on.

“Hey Maya come here, there’s an old house up there”

“Old house? Who stays in a forest?”

“Akash.. Akash.. where are you?”

“Akash.. stop playing hide and seek now, where are you?”

The old house was empty and broken. Akash was not found even after two days of extensive search in the forest by the Maharashtra Police.

5 Beauty Products I am Thankful For | #ThankfulThursdays Week 20

by tinabasu March 17, 2017
written by tinabasu

Do you have a beauty obsession? I have. I am absolutely crazy about some makeup and beauty products and depend on some with my life! But I am not someone to have make-up on  24 x 7. I enjoy my lipsticks and mascaras as much as I enjoy freshly washed and moisturized skin. So let me list down the beauty products that I can’t live without and I am thankful for.

MAC Studio Finish Concealer

I am suffering from a bad stretch of freckles for the last six years due to over exposure to sun. I was naïve enough all throughout my teens and university years to underestimate the sunscreen. So whenever I have to dress up and look good I can never miss the MAC Studio Finish SPF 35 Concealer. It’s like the knight in shining armor for girls having pigmentation. I have used concealers of various brands but nothing has saved my day as this one. This is no regular concealer. It stays for 12 hours and is water resistance. This is creamy, lightweight, tinted, discreetly opaque and gives absolutely mind blowing coverage.  I use NC 45 since my freckles are pretty annoying. They come in various shades to suit your color and the MUAs at MAC stores would be the best to recommend the right shade for you. The MAC Studio Finish concealer doesn’t give you those white patchy mask kind of look after application. I have not found a single concealer which is as good as this – and I am quite a make-up buff! I am enormously and crazily thankful for this product (to get invented and now for being in my kit).                                                        mac-studio-finish-concealer

Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer SunScreen Lotion

For the above-mentioned problem of freckles and sun damage, I have realized best friend for my skin is the sunscreen lotion. I swear by Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch Sun Screen Lotion. They have a great range of sun protection with a variety of SPF. The one I use is with a SPF 50+ and it’s quite a savior. I have tried and tested a gazillion number of sunscreen products and I kind of have found my partner for life (in sunscreen world). Most sunscreens make my face look like a frying pan – they are greasy and stings my eyes. But Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Dry Touch Sun Screen is matte and doesn’t make your skin shiny and slimy. I never go out without applying this product. Enormously thankful for its existence.

Lipstick

I have a major fetish on lipsticks and can never resist a good color. I have multiple lipsticks in different shades of red. Yeah exactly, every kind of red is different. Some have pink undertones, some are orangish red, some are pure reds. I go bonkers at a Sephora or a MAC store. I currently have some 16 MAC lipsticks which I absolutely adore. Ruby Woo and Riri Woo (both are *almost* identical) are my all-time favorite reds with a blue undertone. It goes great with my skin and it stays forever! If you don’t take it off it can stay for a whole day I guess!

That’s me in Riri Woo

I am currently obsessing over the Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion. It has Argan Oil and gives a wonderful stain-matte finish and stays over 8 hours! I have never come across a liquid lipstick that stays so long! The shade I have is called Quiet Riot and I absolutely love it.

Perfumes

A woman’s perfume tells more about her than her handwriting – Coco Chanel

elle_50ml_edp_by_yves_saint_laurentPerfumes and I are best friends.

I have specific perfumes for specific occasions. And some are lying like collectibles because I am always scared they’ll get over.

But my Yves Saint Laurent Elle Eau De Parfum is my go to perfume for most occasions. It’s mild, it’s very feminine and one of my favorites. Most of my duty-free buys are chocolates and perfumes!

My husband gifted me the Mont Blanc Presence Eau De Toilette (again a duty-free pick up) which is super awesome. It smells luxury and I wear it often.  Frankly, I didn’t know Mont Blanc perfumes came with such price tag! And can I say, I absolutely love that round bottle.

mont blanc presence perfume

I had gifted my husband a Hugo Boss (yet another duty-free shopping) and I secretly use it sometimes because I like it so much. He doesn’t know that yet!

Make-up tools

You can invest in a lot of great makeup products but if you don’t apply them correctly you can mess up everything. Investing in good make-up brushes is a good investment, I say. They last for a long time so don’t worry. I go bonkers over my Beauty Blender (which I asked my friend to get it from the US). The kind of finish it gives is awesome.

originalbeautyblendersingle_canister_700x700_1_2

Mac 217 is the king of eyeshadow blending brush and comes a beautiful(!!!) price tag. If you are starting out in makeup you can invest in cheaper alternatives The Real Technique Eye Starter kit is a great start. I love their buff brush from the Core Collection. Sometimes I think I should have a beauty and make-up section on the blog. What say?

Gift your child the Magic of Sound

by tinabasu March 12, 2017
written by tinabasu

As mothers, we are perennially worried about our kids right from their birth. Are they eating right, are they achieving their milestones on time?  Just a week’s delay in their milestones can send the mothers in panic mode. Imagine the life of mothers who have differently abled children. They are not any less of a mother, nor are the children any less. But there is a big stigma in the society for children who are differently abled. There are instances where you cannot do anything and feel helpless for your child. You want to ask WHY ME? WHY MY CHILD? But there are times where you can decide to make your child lead a normal healthy life. Just like how without eyesight the world is one black hole, without sound the world is isolated. As a parent, we wait eagerly for our child to say his first words. Yet when the child doesn’t say his first words by the end of one and half years you wait for him to pick up. Everyone needs the magic of sound.

Get your Child Tested for Hearing Loss

Instead of waiting for your child to pick up later in her own pace, get your child tested for hearing loss. Hearing loss is often taken for granted in India, despite the fact that every year crores of Indian children are born deaf or are detected with a certain level of hearing loss.

Causes of Hearing Loss in Infants

Infants can be born hearing impaired or develop hearing loss for various reasons. Check the infographic below.

hearing-fact-causes-of-hearing-loss-cochlear-implant

Without hearing the sound a child can never develop speech. We take care to not miss a single date for vaccination, but have we ever thought of getting the child’s hearing tested on time? It is important that the child undergoes the hearing test early in his life so that he gets ample time to get the issue addressed and then cope up with the changes.

Does your child need a hearing Test? What are the symptoms to look for?

  • A newborn baby is not startled when there is a loud noise nearby
  • Older infants are not showing any reaction when they are spoken to
  • Toddlers should be able to say single words by 15 months, and simple 2-word sentences by 24 months. If they do not reach these milestones, the cause may be hearing loss.

childhood-hearing-loss-can-be-prevented-cochlear-implant

“60% of childhood hearing loss is preventable if it is detected and addressed early”, says Rhinologist and ENT/ Otorhinolaryngologist Dr. Shankar B Medikeri.

How are Hearing Tests Done?

We mothers are always scared with the mention of tests and examinations in babies. I myself am. But having recently undergone the hearing test myself and for my baby, I can tell you it is the safest test you can ever get. There is nothing invasive there is no pain it is as simple as putting a headphone!

How are Hearing Tests Done? We mothers are always scared with the mention of tests and examinations in babies. I myself am. But having recently undergone the hearing test myself and for my baby I can tell you it is the safest test you can ever get. There is nothing invasive there is no pain it is as simple as putting a headphone!

There are two common tests used in babies for checking hearing loss

  1. Auditory brain stem response (ABR) test -This test uses patches, called electrodes, to see how the auditory nerve reacts to sound.
  2. Otoacoustic emissions (OAE) test – Microphones placed into the baby’s ears detect nearby sounds. The sounds should echo in the ear canal. If there is no echo, it is a sign of hearing loss

Tip: If you have a toddler you can get the test done while he is asleep for the test to be undisturbed.

What if your child is diagnosed with Hearing Loss?

If the child is diagnosed early with profound sensorineural hearing loss the best and easiest way to help your child is to get a cochlear implant. At a recent meet by Cochlear India we met 9-year old Komal, a recipient of the implant.

At a recent meet by Cochlear India we met 10 year old Komal, a recipient of the implant.

She was detected with complete hearing loss in both ears at an early age of two. But her parents refused to make her lead a differently abled life. They took the brave step of getting her a cochlear implant and today she can hear and speak like a normal child, goes to school, enjoys drawing and painting like any other child.

brett-lee-cochlear-india2

We also met with Brett Lee, the Global Hearing Ambassador for Cochlear who was in Bangalore on World Hearing Day on 3rd march for his ‘#SoundsOfCricket Campaign’.

“Through the ‘#SoundsOfCricket’ campaign, I am keen to spread the message about how Cochlear implants help individuals with hearing loss lead a normal life. Hearing loss is a huge global public issue,” said the Australian cricket legend. He also shared the story, how his son suffered hearing loss due to a head injury but was lucky to regain it back naturally. But everyone is not so lucky. He urges parents to get a hearing test done early in the child’s life to prevent and address hearing loss.

Cochlear’s latest sound processor Kanso™ is so tiny and so discreet that you won’t even realize someone is wearing it unless you are told. It is completely wireless and is worn off-the-ear. The child can place it under their hair. It comes in different colors to match your hair.

kanso-cochlear-implant

A cochlear implant requires a minimal surgery behind the ear with a post auricular incision under general anesthesia.  So it’s neither complex nor is your child undergoing a very painful surgery.

Mothers and parents, take the vow that you will not let society pull you or your child down with a stigma, but you will help your child lead a life with dignity. Gift your child the magic of sound.

The Woman – #FridayFotoFiction

Every day you reminded me how I was worthless, good for nothing and my place was in the kitchen.

For sure it was, I loved to cook, I loved to see the smile on your and our kids face after each meal.

Your neglect gave birth to my home-catering business years ago.

Today on the inaugural day of my first fine dining restaurant I sit back and thank you.

Thank you for telling me I was insignificant.

Thank you for reminding me I was inferior because I’m a woman.

Otherwise, I would have never met the woman entrepreneur in me.

Word Count – 100

5 Womanly Quirks You are Thankful For

by tinabasu March 11, 2017
written by tinabasu

Hello peeps, this entire month of March we are celebrating women. This week we have an interesting prompt for #ThankfulThursdays yet again. We are discussing Womanly Quirks! What are quirks, did you ask? Quirk is the peculiar aspect of your character – something that is unique to you. These quirks almost define us. Like one of my quirk is I can be ready for a dessert in the middle of my sleep!  So this Thursday we ask you to write about your quirks.

#ThankfulThursdays Week 19 Prompt

thankful-thursdays

Its nice to have quirks. Sometimes these quirks are also enjoyed by men – though many don’t tell us on our face! I of course have a gazzilion number of womanly quirks (okay some are quite un-lady like). But let me tell you about the ones that I am thankful for.

I like to Talk

Yes, and talk a whole lot. I was an introvert child but someday somehow I became the complete opposite of it. I could talk non-stop on important, un important and random stuffs. One of my colleague asked me if I could talk to the wall! This quirk (my husband declares is too much) is quite helpful in return. Communicating is a good thing – without communicating no work happens. When you can talk effortlessly in any situation you never shy away from public speaking, a presentation at work, addressing a client meeting or introducing yourself to a stranger! [Well introducing to a stranger is not always safe, you have been alerted.] I am absolutely okay with me being talkative. I even talk to myself and counsel myself quite a lot.

I Love the Camera

This is something that I picked up while I was in high-school All my photos of childhood are horrendous where I simply hated the camera. I am either sulking or brooding or slouching in some corner. I had no idea why I was dressed up and made to sit in a certain way and asked to smile. Who smiles at strangers, and why exactly would I do that – thought the 10 year old me. Fast forward to high-school and college I was pretty much the photo queen and now I am the selfie queen in the family. But I don’t have the selfie disorder that some women have who takes 64 selfies in a movie hall washroom or 79 selfies at a restaurant. I like selfies and groupvies and babyfies in moderation. At restaurants, however, I am more interested in clicking the food than myself.

I laugh if I fall down!

I have fallen down on streets, roads, mud, from the bike, in an empty swimming pool, on dry floor, in the snow and almost every place possible. Why don’t ask me. And each time I have fallen down I have laughed at myself. I remember getting down from the school bus and walking towards home when I tripped and fell down on the footpath. I got huge bruises on my knees, people rushed to help me and found me laughing at myself sitting on that damn footpath! Now I guess this humpty-dumpty disorder has reduced considerably but I still don’t know why I used to fall down so frequently and in most unappropriated times. But it is good in a way. At least I am girl enough to laugh at myself, pick myself up and start life from there without getting too embarrassed.

I have 32 sweet teeth

I guess you all know it by now. I can have a dessert at any time of the day – any kind of dessert. Without a good dessert I don’t leave a restaurant. And if a restaurant doesn’t have a good dessert on its menu then it scores way below in my list!

I have a major fetish on shoes

If I could have a room sized shoe case I would have that. I currently have a massive shoe case cupboard the ones that you call wall to wall. An entire wall of the foyer currently is my shoe cupboard with a few racks for my husband and Bluey and the rest all are my shoe fetish place. At one point of time I had just about 74 pairs of ballerinas, stilettoes, wedges, peeptoes, boots, sneakers, pumps, flipflops, kohlapuris, jutis and just about anything that you can name from the shoe world! My friends used to think I am mad. Actually my fetish is for all good things – shoes, bags, lipsticks, makeup. All of these make me happy.

So what are your womanly quirks that you are thankful for? Share with us, we’ll love to read.

Say HI to your #ThankfulThursdays team
