Online matchmaking- a revulsion or revolution?

by tinabasu April 14, 2017
written by tinabasu

Matrimonial websites became quite a stir in India in the last decade. Gone are the days of matchmakers and relatives to get the information about a prospective groom or bride. People now are heavily dependent on the trend of online matchmaking through various matrimonial sites. But every coin has two sides. With the popularity of these online matrimonial sites, there is no dearth of fraudulent people hiding behind fake photos and fake profiles waiting to pounce on innocent people looking for a life partner.

Online matchmaking Fraud Cases

A quick search on Google with ‘Matrimonial Site Fraud Cases’ can bring up tons of results for cases registered against fraudulent people duping women who they met on matrimonial networking sites. In January 2016 as many as 62 cases were registered with Pune City police where women were duped by tricksters whom they had met on various matrimonial sites. These fraudulent people first make contact, gain trust and then take money on various pretexts. After that, they are never found. (Source)

Lack of Verification

Finding a life partner is an important decision. How can you trust a person when you don’t even know their real identity? People are often getting deceived by frauds due to lack of verification. Anyone can add anything to their profiles which don’t get verified by any source. These fraudulent people take the advantage of this very lag. There’s no dearth of people waiting to dupe you. And innocent families often are scared to ask about their prospective grooms about their educational qualifications, income and often they have to rely on the information updated on the profile or the vocal commitment of the user.

Revolutionary Aadhaar Authentication

But one of these online matchmaking sites Love Vivah is revolutionizing the entire online matchmaking scene. This unique website with their revolutionary features is making the online matrimonial platform a safe world, by ensuring Aadhaar Authentication of all profiles registered on their site.  Every user needs to connect their Aadhaar Number during registration which is then matched with the demographic inputs against the stored data. This collaboration with UIDAI Unique Identification Authority of India will help everyone looking for a life partner.

Users can also link on their Facebook and Linkedin accounts to their profiles for better transparency. Now a groom/ bride-seeker not only knows the real name, real address but also have the real photo of the profile user.  This is a big step towards curtailing the misuse of matrimonial sites. This security measure will get users connected to the only genuine profile.

On the Love Vivah website, a user can upload several photos – of themselves, family, workplace giving the prospective groom/bride a chance to get a sneak peek into the future partner’s life. That is a much better way to let others get a slice of your life than a passport size photo.

love-vivah

This technology-driven online matchmaking website is driven towards providing true information for prospective bride and grooms and helps to get people find their soul mates. Love Vivah serves to all Indian communities in India and abroad in USA, Canada, UK, Australia and Singapore

Love in Life – Step 12 of Leading a Meaningful Life | #AtoZChallenge

by tinabasu April 14, 2017
written by tinabasu

Love is a not a word today it is an entire chapter. And thanks to Hallmark and films and fiction there’s only one way of love that is projected as the greatest love. But what is love? Have you asked yourself? Is love about dating someone? Finding the right guy or girl? If your answer was yes to those then I am afraid the reality is NO.

love-in-life

The only form of love that can be called love is unconditional love. The love doesn’t need to be between two people nor does it have to be romantic love. You can have unconditional love for anyone or anything. Some people have undying love for fitness, some people have unconditional love for their pets, some people treat their plants as their babies. Love resides in all of them.

Love can be given and expressed despite the circumstances. When you want love, you give love, it will come back automatically to you some way or the other. I somehow feel you are not a good human being if you can’t love and respect another person. There can be aversions to certain people and you don’t need to love everyone on earth but in general, you need to grow these virtues in your life.

Why is love in life important?

  1. Love makes more impact than money or all other material possessions.
  2. When you hug someone as a result of love and affection Oxytocin is released from the pituitary gland – it’s the feel good factor.
  3. When you spend time with your friends and loved ones it gives you contentment
  4. A lack of social support or human contact can lead to negative effects on health and emotion like higher Blood Pressure, depression etc
  5. When you are in the later stages of your life you don’t look forward to your bank balance or your swanky car – you look forward to your friends and family.
  6. Love is a path of self-discovery – you get to know yourself, your liking, your preference better

So don’t think too much and find your love, express it. Of course, don’t forget to love yourself. It all starts at home.

Self-love should be as important to you as Oxygen is important to life – Tony Payne

Kindness in life – Step 11 to leading a Meaningful Life | AtoZChallenge

kindness-in-life

Do you fancy a day when you wake up and don’t want to be kind? Or do you want to fill yourself with kindness for little things – I am sure you will choose the second option. Practicing kindness in life doesn’t make you small or unimportant, it, in fact, is a very powerful thing. It’s all about the choice you make – kindness or spite!

maya-angelou-quote

I am a big fan of Maya Angelou and her inspiring words. The above quote stands true to the time. People will never remember what you said, they will not remember you how good you were at making a presentation or how you did your work. But they can never forget how you made them feel, they can never forget how good, compassionate you were with them. Kindness in life isn’t very difficult. Some time back I was walking back home after getting down from a public bus. I saw a visually impaired man trying to climb the footpath and he looked a little perplexed. I went ahead and helped him climb the footpath (in Bangalore you have footpaths and roads in very different levels, it feels like you are climbing a hill!) But then realized he’s not perplexed because of climbing the footpath, his stick was enough. He wanted the direction and bus route for a place he wanted to go. But he wasn’t feeling very comfortable to ask anyone, nor did anyone come forward to ask or help him out. After telling him the bus number I asked him if he wanted me to accompany him till the bus – he said no thanks, I don’t want to depend on someone! `That one line made me realize how differently I was seeing him. But somewhere I was happy I could help.

hrithik-roshan-motivational-quote

“Being humble is the starting point to being creative” – Hrithik Roshan

Humility and kindness go hand in hand. I find Hrithik a very inspiring man with very inspiring and motivating words (and I am completely unbiased when I say that). In an interview, he had said, “If you don’t find humility, humility will find you some way.” He explains if you are not humble and kind life will bring you in situations where you to learn to be humble and kind. If you give it a thought you might find the quote very true. There is no way you can escape kindness in life and it, in fact, helps you to become a better person.

Why is it important to practice Kindness in Life?

Kindness broadens your frame of mind, kindness brings you respect.

Being kind is a feel good factor

Kindness helps people feel respected and not alone or cornered

Kids will learn from your example of kindness

Kindness brightens our world and softens our heart

Kindness creates loyalty

Joy in Life – Step 10 to leading a Meaningful Life | A toZChallenge

by tinabasu April 12, 2017
written by tinabasu

Happiness lies in the joy of achievement and the thrill of creative effort. Franklin D. Roosevelt

Joy is the emotional state that increases the energy of life. Can you live life without the feeling of joy? Do you want to wake up to a day and not look forward to having any joy? You can have joy in life in various ways and you should look for the small joys in life.

joy-in-life

It’s not a good idea to get caught up in the race of life and work so much that you forget to live life. Are you so caught up in your daily life that you are forgetting to help yourself or keep your joys alive?

How to keep alive the Joy in Life?

Pick your Phone & Call a friend

When was the last time you spoke to your friend – not on chat, not on Whatsapp but on phone or face to face? Pick up the phone and make a call. Speak your heart out, relive your college or school times for a few minutes – it will give you a wonderful sense of joy.

Say Thank You

Living in gratitude is a wonderful thing. It’s not a magic word for no reason. A thank you doesn’t cost much but gives immense satisfaction. Say thank you to even people whom you don’t know personally. Thank the waiter who gets your coffee, thank the cab driver at the end of the trip, thank the cashier when he gives the change. These are little things and when they return the smile or say a welcome it gives you a sense of joy.

Break A sweat

Go for a run, do yoga, do some free hand exercise or work out I the gym. Working out releases endorphins – the feel good hormones – it releases pent up stress from body.

Feed someone

Eating sometimes is a stress buster and gives you joy but when you feed someone you get bigger joys. Make a meal or even something small for the family or friends. Share some of your special food with your neighbor. That gesture will give you and others joy.

Break into a dance

Dance is a great stress buster and works like working out. It’s a form of creativity that brings immense joy specially if you are dancing with someone or just for yourself.

Write often

Expressing yourself is good. Writing is very therapeutic. I have seen when you write more and bring your thoughts together and then read it, I get a sense of joy. I write almost every day – on various things – either on the journal, or on the blog.

Inspire and be Inspired – Step 9 to leading a meaningful life | AtoZChallenge

If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. John Quincy Adams

inspire-and-be-inspired

Inspiration in life is important. Inspiration awakens the mind, inspiration helps a person to look at life differently at times.  Inspiration helps and transforms the way we perceive our own capabilities. I draw inspiration from a lot of things around – people, their stories, their struggles, or even the amount of effort a toddler puts in arranging things properly. Always remember to Inspire and be inspired.

But you don’t need to draw inspiration from celebrities always. Though I do draw a lot of inspiration from two of the icons I worship. And one of the biggest lessons learned from them is humility, and being true to yourself will stand the test of time. But let’s take a look at some inspiring people like you and me who have made humanity proud.

Inspire and Be Inspired Personality #1 – Sindhutai Sapkal

Sindhutai-Sapkal

Sindhutai Sapkal, a.k.a “Mother of Orphans”, the 68-year-old is an inspiring personality. Married at a tender age of 10 to a 30-year-old man, this girl from Pimpri Meghe Village, Maharashtra was pushed into a life of abuse. Her dreams of education crushed at an early age she was subjected to severe abuse at the hands of her husband. She was beaten and thrown out of the marital home when she was 9 months pregnant. After giving birth to her daughter in a cow shed she walked to her mother’s place at that condition but sadly she was refused shelter there. She started begging at the railway station to support herself and feed her daughter. That’s when she realized there are many children who are abandoned by their parents. She begged keenly to feed them as well. Eventually, she adopted the children as her own.

sindhutai3

Till date, she has adopted and brought up over 1,400 orphans – giving them shelter, food, education, financial support and many of them today are doctors, lawyers, and engineers.

“When I was out myself on the streets begging for food and fighting for survival each day, I realized that there are so many orphans who have nobody to go to. I decided to take care of them and raise them as my own,” Sindhutai (Source)

None of those kids were given up for adoption to any wealthy being but raised as her own and to remove partiality among the children she gave up her own biological daughter. She has won several awards for her selfless work towards orphans. She is using all those financial helps in constructing homes and shelters for the orphans.

Inspire and Be Inspired Personality #2 – Raja Mahendra Pratap

raja mahendra pratap

Raja Mahendra Pratap a youth from Hyderabad is a story of inspiration, belief, hope and courage all embroiled together. A freak dare at the age of 5 altered his life forever. When friends challenged him, at the age of 5, that he couldn’t hold an iron rod on a live electric wire he took it up and ended up in a hospital for months. The dare resulted in getting all his limbs amputated. For 10 years he was confined to home subjected to embarrassment from parents and relatives. He read his sister’s books and finally ended up giving his exams. He went on to finish his B.Com and MBA in Finance.

raja-mahendra-pratap-ongc

Currently working in ONGC and drawing a handsome salary, Pratap said he designed his own shoes and got a cobbler to make it for him. He draws attention whenever he’s in the public because he looks different physically but he has no qualms about it. He works on his computer, climbs stairs and does almost everything.

Assign me any work; I am capable of doing all of them. I don’t need sympathy of people. Treat me normally and I will love it. I wish that people and society treat disabled with respect and accept them., Pratap (Source)

There is no way you cannot be inspired in life by anyone. Everyone has the capability to teach you something good, something nice. Some give you courage, some motivate you, some make you look at yourself with a different perspective. Open your mind, Inspire and be inspired.

“We all have a life story and a message that can inspire others to live a better life or run a better business. Why not use that story and message to serve others and grow a real business doing it?” Brendon Burchard

Hope in Life – Step 8 to Leading a Meaningful Life | AtoZ Challenge

by tinabasu April 10, 2017
written by tinabasu

Hope is the only thing stronger than fear.

hope-in-life

Where will you be if you don’t have hope in life? Hope for a better day, hope for a better health, hope for a peaceful night, hope for a fresh morning. Life throws us challenges where you feel helpless and can’t find anything to deal with them. The easiest thing is to give up. But why bow down to challenges?

oprah2-624x774Oprah Winfrey was born to a teen mom and lived in poverty most of her childhood. She was molested at the age of nine by the males in her family. At age of 13 she ran away from home tired of the sexual abuse. At 14, she gave birth to her son, who died in his infancy. Getting abused by family members is sad enough and then the death of her son. But did she fail in life? Did she bow down to the challenge? NO. She attended school, became an honors student and was voted the Most Popular Girl in school in spite of racial discrimination. She won a scholarship at the Tennessee State University. She even won Miss Black Tennessee beauty pageant. She went on to be a news reader at the local radio station, and then started her illustrious journey in the television. Today she is one of the Most Powerful Women in the world. How did she achieve everything that she has achieved? Not just because she is talented, she never lot hope – not even in the times of adversity.

Do you know Arunima Sinha? She’s a national level volleyball player, in India, with indomitable spirit. In 2011 while travelling in train a few robbers pushed her out of a moving train. She was gravely injured and lost a leg in this incident. Becoming an amputee was not the end of her story. She neither wanted the pity in people’s eyes nor did she want to lead a mediocre life. Bigger challenges and bigger heights were awaiting her. She went on to become the first ever Female Amputee to climb the Mt. Everest!

“I wanted to tell everyone that I’m on top of the world, especially to those people who thought a woman and an amputee couldn’t do it. I took off my mask and screamed, and my sherpa just stared at me.” – Arunima Sinha. (Source)

arunima-sinha-amputee-mountain-climber-mt-everest

She has been featured as one of the ‘People of the Year’ in the 27th edition (2016) of Limca Book of Records.

She never lost hope in life. She never lost the spirit. She did the unthinkable. Hope and courage make you accomplish even the impossible.

How no to lose Hope in Life?

  1. Re-assess the situation – is everything lost? Is there no way you can bounce back even if its hard
  2. Be thankful for what you have and practice thankfulness, gratitude.
  3. Communicate – Don’t let everything to get build up inside you. Communicate, talk to near ones
  4. Be honest with yourself – you are your friend don’t lie to yourself. You will find a way

“Love, we say, is life; but love without hope and faith is agonizing death.
