How to be an Amazing Single mom
Are you a single mom? Great. It is not the end of the road it is that light at the end of the tunnel. Being a single mom is a better situation than being in an unhappy life.
Your child will probably thank you later. It is better to bring up a child as a single parent than in an unhappy household where all they see and hear is negative. It is not good for a child’s emotional health.
Being a single mom can be difficult at times since you have to manage literally everything on your own. But you know what – you will be happy! You have time to learn about yourself, you can take your own decisions, spend money on yourself and you don’t have to impress anyone!
But it could be a daunting task being a single mom and managing everything on your own. Don’t give in to the overwork and stress. Yes, you are the only adult, yes you have to maintain the career, run a house, be a parent – but don’t get overwhelmed.
Here are 5 tips on being an amazing single mom.
Maintain a routine
Humans like routine – kids love them. You know when you are supposed to do what. When your life follows a routine, it becomes easy to follow.
Make a routine for yourself and your kids. Have breakfast together. It could be simple breakfast. Encourage your kids to do their own routine of getting ready for school. Little older kids can help in making breakfast.
Simplify your life and declutter
This in fact is true for every mom – simplify your life. Minimalism in life is great. When you have fewer things to do, you can slow down and relax.
Declutter your home and kitchen. We all have too many unnecessary things in our house. Admit it, you have it. Declutter your house – that’s the first step to decluttering your life.
Learn to budget and Save
Financial planning is a big part of any single mom’s life. You are depending only on your salary. Make a budget for monthly needs, put money in savings. Make an emergency fund for yourself and your kids. You could start a side hustle to grow your income.
But most importantly – pay your debts. Live debt free if you can.
Self-care
If you don’t look after yourself no one can. Your kid’s life depends on you since you are the only parent. Eat well, sleep well, maintain a good healthy life. Don’t let depression get in your and succumb to things like alcohol and smoking. You are only going to spend more on these and healthcare.
Don’t let anyone judge you
We live in a society where everyone talks behind your back – whether you are single or not. Don’t pay attention to people judging you. You are the sole responsible person of your life and your kid’s life – you don’t need to know what people are talking about you. And if they are – they probably are not friends.
So don’t get overwhelmed by the single mom life. It is absolutely okay to be a single mom – and it is even better to strive to be the amazing single mom! Isn’t it?
